Storytelling samples

Here are samples of storytelling using audio, video, short writing and longform narrative.

UO Champions: Telling a story of excellence in academics and athletics, using text, video, photos, hashtags, blogs, Facebook and more.

Sustainability package: Here’s a multimedia package of strategic storytelling. The link takes you to a feature story I wrote about the University of Oregon’s sustainability efforts. It links to a short web video I produced on the subject, a news release I wrote about a recent honor earned by the university, and two minutes of audio I recorded and edited from the UO president, a portion of which led the local newscast on public radio minutes after we posted it on the web.

Scholarship package: I wrote this featured story about Grant Wheeler, one of more than 400 students taking part in a new scholarship program at the university. The package links to a video I produced featuring Wheeler and the PathwayOregon web site where I wrote the copy.

Longform narrative: Read a longform piece about Paralympic champion cyclist Karissa Whitsell or a shorter version that appeared on the Tri-Divas Lounge site and in Her Sports magazine.

Creating Art from Excess: University of Oregon art prof Michael Salter uses leftover packing materials to make giant robot sculptures, an innovative way to promote sustainability on one of the greenest campuses around. This piece also appeared in Oregon Quarterly magazine.

World class facility matches quality of academics: The University of Oregon opened a brand new facility in Portland earlier this year. I wrote this news release to put the building center stage.Work s
